We're White Hat
White Hat Management was founded in 1998 by Akron industrialist David L. Brennan.
He witnessed the power of education when he
established learning centers at his manufacturing and industrial sites to
help employees increase their capacities for success.
Brennan was appalled at the sorry state of public education. An alternative was needed—especially for the economically disadvantaged. Students and parents needed a choice. Brennan responded by forming White Hat Management.
During the company's first four years, White Hat Management helped institute 15 new charter schools in Ohio, including eight elementary schools and seven Life Skills Centers. White Hat has grown into one of the premier education service delivery organizations in the United States:
- The third largest K-12 charter school operator in the United States, and the largest in Ohio.
- Actively assisting in the daily engagement of nearly 23,000 students in 53 schools across Ohio and in Arizona, Michigan, Colorado and Florida; including state-wide distance-learning charter schools in Ohio, Colorado and Pennsylvania.
- Employing nearly 1,700 teachers, staff, and administrators.
