Online K-12 School, DELA, Embraces Project Based Learning in Ohio

AKRON, OH – The Distance & Electronic Learning Academy (DELA) has launched a Project Based Learning option to the online school curriculum available to students for the 2011-12 school year in Ohio (OHDELA).

OHDELA’s Project Based Learning program allows students to address community issues, explore careers, interact with adult mentors, use technology, and present their work to audiences beyond the classroom. Students go through an extended process of inquiry in response to a complex question, problem or challenge. Demanding educational projects are carefully planned, managed and assessed to help students build vital workplace skills and lifelong habits of learning.

“We are dedicated to researching and implementing the best education solutions for our online students.  The immediate feedback from parents has been positive for our new Project Based Learning curriculum,” said Robert Fox, Vice President of DELA, White Hat Management. “We are confident that offering this option will enhance the way our students learn and better prepare them for the future.”

The Project Based Learning curriculum is accredited in the State of Ohio and instructed by state licensed teachers.  The traditional Calvert distance school curriculum will continue to be offered by OHDELA as well.

The online school programs offered by DELA are tuition-free and include the necessary computer devices, social interaction initiatives, and dedicated faculty to provide a 21st century education.
